It is now official we have a new location for this years Dadstock. A nice homestead in South East Wisconsin we have nicknamed "Woodchuck Acres" since the owner of the property goes by the name of "Woodchuck" on line...

Don't Forget the Bonfire!!!

Since we have moved the location to a more remote location away from neighbors in the burbs we can stay out late without fear of getting people angry.

On the Agenda...

Dadstock Golf Outing Saturday Morning... Contact and registration information available soon.
Dadstock Beerfest - Homebrews and Microbrews to be plentiful.
Food and Fire - The grills will be going with samplings of favorites of the many grill guys in the group...
Bonfire - As the night approaches the bonfire will be lit. Stories, chatting and fun for everyone...
Camping - For those that wish to camp there is room for everything from tents to pop-ups. this is great since it will allow everyone to drink and not have to worry about driving. A responsible party is a good party. There are also local hotels available as well as taxi service.
Games - Bean Bag Toss, Horse Shoes, Bocce Ball...
Chainsaw Demonstration - If everyone behaves Woodchuck will give some more demonstrations of his cutting skills.

Floating around the idea to do something over the holidays in the dead of winter. Maybe a party here at the homestead or a informal get together at a bar or restaurant. This could be a fun thing when the weather outside is fright full and we all need a break from our family duties...

Well I have just updated the site which will be the first of many changes to come.

There are more pictures, Email Updates and the current list of host cities for 2008. As soon as I verify information from a couple others the list will be growing.

DADSTOCK 2007 was a Wonderful Success!

Well today is the day after a wonderful time with a great group of Stay At Home Dads. This year marked the first annual DADSTOCK and next years the plans are for a National Event.

2007

The morning started out with the weather picture perfect for a day relaxation and fun. By 10:00 a.m. I had the coolers stocked with ice and beer and some food already cooking. The final touches outside were done and the signs were out advertising the location. At about 10:45 I made the final arrangements for one of our East coast friends to be picked up at the train and the day was ready to begin. Having a bunch of guys coming over to my home that I never met was a rather nervous experience. A little before noon our friend Woodchuck arrived in his truck with plenty of goodies and of course his Chain Saw equipment and logs to do a demonstration. Before I knew it the guys were rolling in and the beer was arriving and flowing like a Golden River of goodness. Our Friend Indy brought up a KEG of HOMEBREW!!!

Manly Task # 1 Done... (Beer Flowing)

After relaxing a little in the back it was getting close to being time for the main demonstration. I went around front to see Woodchuck setting up the logs and he was making sure all the safety precautions were taking place. He was also chatting with a neighbor of mine that was extremely interested in seeing WC at work. Well at this time the mail carrier was in distress having a flat tire a few houses down and no way to get help from the post office. So as any good Stay At Home Dad would do I grabbed a group of guys and we went for the assist. Mopar-Daddy the car guy of the group jumped right in and had her on the road in no time.

Manly Task # 2 Done... (Changed Tire for Woman Stranded)

By the time the tire was done Woodchuck was ready to do take a log and make lumber!

After this amazing demonstration of skill and power tools we were all in awe... The dust was flying, the chain was turning and the roar of the saw echoed through the neighborhood.

After manly task number 3 we all went to the back to have some snacks, beer and enjoy talking to one another.

Finally it was time to get the food rolling. There were burgers over fire, chicken Wing, smoked pork, guac, salsa, chips, fresh berries, two bean dishes, Polish and Kraut, Fruit Salad (Yummy Yummy) Taco Ring, fresh greens... There was enough food to feed an army or a group of Stay At Home Dads released into the wild for a day.

Manly Task # 4 (Food over Fire)

As the food coma started to set in the conversations changed from Saws and Beer to Family and Household chores. The sight of a group of men sitting around drinking beer and talking about C-Sections, Potty Training, Laundry and kids music had to be interesting to say the least. My wife was rather amused by the different conversation topics. So it was time to Start a fire...

Manly Task # 5 (Fire For Warmth)

The Age of reason...

As were were all talking and having a good time the topic of our ages came up. The youngest was 26 and the oldest was 42. The range of dads was rather wide for the small group we got together.

So it is now time to met the people at the first Annual Dadstock...

The beer kept flowing the laughs kept coming and a great time was had by all. The afternoon slowly became night and everyone relaxed and enjoyed time with a group of new friends. At about midnight the party was ending... It was July 1st and the first DADSTOCK was over...

Thanks for the Successful First Annual DADSTOCK!!! I am happy to say I made a wonderful group of new friends and hope to continue making more friends as we plan more and more DADSTOCK Events!!!

DADSTOCK to become ANNUAL EVENT!

Well after seeing the interest in my little event I am looking into making it an annual event. I will begin to look into some sponsors and maybe even plan some specific activities. With this I am also looking into possibly doing a bunch of regional events throughout the year.

Monthly or Bi-Monthly Get Together
National DADSTOCK day. Groups of Dads organize for a one day event at different locations across the country. This way everyone can get involved!

Family Vacation!!! (Cruise, Disney, Resorts, Camping...)

So the planning starts and maybe just maybe this could become something really big!!!

At Home Dads Unite!

Well I have been organizing a "Dads" day for At Home Dads to get together, Eat good food and of course drink some good beer. This would give us all a chance to sit around and have a good time without having to chase children around. It is very difficult for dads in this situation to make new friends and I hoped this would be a start.

My original plan was to get a few local dads together for burgers and beer. Well this has begun to snowball into a larger "Event" As I discussed this with a few dads the term "DadStock" came up so that is the event name. Now a local dad has created a poster for the event. (Thanks big_jake)

Well the numbers of dads keep increasing and what started as a local IL dad get together has now included a few more states...
IL, WI, IN, NJ, MA... WOW!!!
